Maintain

Monthly SEO maintenance for queries that pay.

Monthly SEO maintenance watches the mid-tail keywords on your list: position, the URL Google shows, whether the page still answers, and one fix shipped before the month ends.

Four monthly SEO checks: position on the money queries, the right URL showing, the page still answering, and one fix shipped.
Four checks. The month ends when one real fix is live.

Rankings move. The site should move with them.

We watch the queries from the research, a short list of terms that can bring a call. When a page slips, we read the new first page and decide: update this URL, build a better one, or stop chasing a query the business no longer wants.

New writing belongs in the same pass. A site with a handful of strong pages beats a site with dozens of thin ones. Maintenance adds a URL when there is a query to own, and it rewrites a page when the answer got better. The draft sits in preview until it is ready. Implementation habits still apply: one title, one H1, links in and out.

Technical checks are part of the month. Broken links, a redirect that loops, an image that became huge, a title someone edited into a slogan. Small failures are how a ranking decays. The report is plain: where you stand, what changed, and what we will do next.

Why monthly: one fix beats ten dashboards. We share outcomes in the report, not every internal check script.

What a maintenance month covers.

  • Position on the queries we agreed to watch, and which URL is the one showing
  • A read of any first page that changed shape: more videos, a map, a different intent
  • Fixes for broken links, redirects, titles, and pages that no longer match the offer
  • One new or rewritten page when the research says the query is ready
  • A short note you can read: what moved, and what shipped
  • Event and conversion checks from the tracking stack, reconciled with forms and ad platforms when spend is in the month

If you also run ads, the same month can include the search-term review, so organic and paid are looking at one list.

A short tutorial: a monthly half hour.

You can run this yourself between our reports, or use it to see what we are doing. Five queries. One fix. Then stop.

  1. Open the queries that pay the bills.

Five is enough. Note the position and whether the right URL is the one in the result. If a different page of yours is ranking, those two pages are competing. Pick the URL that should own the query and point the other one elsewhere.

  2. Click your own result.

Read the page as a customer who just searched. If the business changed and the page did not, the result is advertising an old offer. Update the first paragraph before you touch anything else.

  3. Look at what else is on that first page.

If the results are now videos, a map pack, or a different intent, the old article may need a new job. Write down the kind of page that is winning. That note feeds the next research pass.

  4. Click through the money pages on a phone.

Fix anything broken before you write anything new. A dead link, a missing image, a headline under the menu. Those are the leaks.

  5. Ship one improvement.

A missing internal link, a thin section, a question customers asked that the page ignores. Publish that. A month of one real fix beats a month of rearranging the same paragraphs.

Questions on maintenance

How often do you report?

Monthly is the usual rhythm. Sooner when a watched query drops, or when a launch needs a closer look in the first weeks.

Do you write the new pages?

Yes. Research picks the query. We draft the page in the voice of the site, and you can edit it in the CMS before it goes live.

What if we need to pause?

You can pause. The queries keep moving while you do. A small monthly that protects the pages already earning calls is the engagement we recommend keeping.
